As you embark on your weight loss journey, you want to work at rebuilding yourself. Learn how to love yourself. That is a critical step. If you do not learn to love yourself, self sabotage easily comes into play. Feelings of not being good enough or worthy of the change. If you aren't careful you will slip back into old habits. Sometimes its about losing who you are and becoming someone different. Even though the healthier version of you might be better, fear of not knowing who you will be is terrifying.
As you shed the blanket of fat a new person starts to emerge. Almost as a butterfly coming from a cocoon. For myself I wasn't quite sure what to do with myself. I gradually grew more self confident. It is amazing the difference when you aren't so self conscience of how you look. You aren't constantly pulling on your clothes and worrying the whole time what others are thinking when looking at you. Not wanting to hide anymore is scary, but exciting. Being overweight can steal the person you were meant to be all along, and just maybe there is a strong, confident, leader hidden in there. Lots of times people do not recognize me that I went to high school with. Some do not even remember going to high school with me. I was a wall flower. I did not want to stand out, I wanted to blend in. It resulted in a very miserable 4 years of high school. I dated very little, and when I did I usually made poor decisions. I've lost and gained 50 pounds over and over. I know what self sabotage looks like. Losing weight has to be a lifestyle change. Not only with eating and exercise, but inside with your thoughts. That is what I figured out 9 years ago. You have to find your WHY. Why do you want to be healthy?? It may be for health reason, or to be around for your kids or grandkids. It maybe to finally have the life you want. So instead of sitting and eating ice cream watching tv and dreaming about it, you are actually living it. Find your WHY! Start on your journey! Get the life you always wanted and start LIVING.
