My journey literally started out with cutting back on my portions. Eating just a little less. Then I started eliminating foods. No fries at fast food restaurants. I got salads or plain grilled chicken sandwiches. I did however use the biggest loser guidelines. I bought 100 calories packs and sugar free items. I counted calories and wrote them down. And... I kept eliminating things or switching them for healthier things. I started losing weight but it was gradual. I was making lifestyle changes. Healthier habits that were important for the rest of my life. I also learned to take time for myself. and that making time to exercise was ok. My kids were proud of me for the changes I was making. Changes on the inside were happening as well and they were just as important.
It took me 15 months to lose 80lbs. I struggle to lose weight and put it back on very easily. I have been all the way down to 138lbs, which by the way, is not a good weight for me. I looked sick. I've been back up to 177lbs over these 9 years but my good eating habits bring me back and now I hover around 160lbs. My BMI is not perfect and neither is my body fat % according to the powers that be, but that isn't the important thing. Healthy is not super thin or a certain number. I workout, I eat healthy, and I feel good. I want people to realize that the journey from overweight to healthy is more than a number on a scale. Its an emotional journey. It is letting go of head trash that tells you are not good enough or worthy of happiness. Its proving to yourself that you are more powerful than you know. And being HEALTHY.... Body, Mind and Spirit is a beautiful thing
