Trying to be healthy is my goal. I have changed my diet and modified my life trying to ensure that I am as healthy as I can be. People always ask me how do I have the willpower to not eat things, and truth is sometimes I don't. If I really want something I eat it. AND just because I don't eat a piece of cake doesn't mean that it doesn't still taste good. I am a horrible sugar addict, or a recovering sugar addict. When I eat it I have a very hard time stopping. I want more and more. Then it takes me days to stop the cravings again. So I have learned that those few short moments that it tastes good is not worth the problems it causes. Sugar is so toxic to ours bodies. It suppresses our immune system, inhibits mineral absorption, causes wrinkles, acne. It is linked as root form of obesity and chronic illnesses heart disease, cancer dementia, Type 2 diabetes, depression and the list goes on. Trying to stay away from it is definitely in our best interest. These are ways that I have learned to help the cravings.
1. I do not keep sugary food in my home.
2. Try to fill up on vegetables so that I don't want sugar
3. Keep dark chocolate bar on hand with 70% cacao at least. Eat a square or 2
4. Try to drink lots of water. Sometimes cravings happen when you are dehydrated.
These work for me. Everyone is different!
