Usually my blogs are about health, healthy eating or fitness/ weight loss. Today is different. Today my blog is about stress. Everyone has a certain degree of stress. Most of the time we all handle it pretty well or hide it which ever may be the case. BUT sometimes it feels like a blanket that comes over us like a dark shadow. These last couple of month that has been the case for me.
I don't usually talk about this part of my personal life, but Darrin and I adopted 2 boys several years ago. Raising them has been totally different than raising our four. They have different behaviors and can be overwhelming at times. I have tried to use the things that I have learned as a Holistic Health Coach for behaviors. Some things have improved, while others have not. I have removed foods with dyes &artificial flavorings. I have limited refined sugar, (except for grandparents homes and school), I have limited dairy and gluten. I have used supplements such as fish oil, & probiotics, essential oils, and Reiki. Everything and anything I can find that might help I have tried. However the oldest one just keep pushing. Behaviors and things I would never share on a blog. I have been pushed to my breaking point. However I refuse to allow it to steal my happiness. I am the only one in control of my happiness, my peace, my joy or my health. I have to find a way to create a balance to restore my inner peace in the midst of the chaos. There are lots of holistic things to help us cope with stress. I am a big believer in prayer. Meditation is a good one as well and you can do that is so many ways. It can be with prayer or a walk in nature. Where ever is your peaceful place. Exercise in any form is very helpful. It lowers cortisol levels and increases serotonin. Yoga is an awesome form to help restore peace. Essential oil blends are very powerful in helping us cope with stress. Breathing exercising can lower your cortisol quickly and help calm you down. And last but not least food. Eliminating sugar, & caffeine can help keep stress level under control.. We are all still going to get stressed but using these techniques to keep it under control until you can find the steps to take or until it is shown to you. Right now I don't know what I am supposed to do. What I do know is I am in charge of my happiness. I can't control other peoples behaviors but I can decide how I let it affect me. So until I know what I am supposed to do I will pray, exercise, use essential oils and continue to eat healthy until I do know. My stress will not derail me, that is not an option.
