It is that time of year for allergies to be in full swing. I myself suffered for years. I took allergy shots and a ton of medications, but even after 4 years of allergy shots, I still could not go without Claritin D EVER! Then an amazing thing happened. I changed my diet and added some natural treatments and I do not need anything for allergies anymore. Because I know how miserable those symptoms can be, I thought I would share my top tips for alleviating allergies.
#1 Remove dairy and gluten from your diet. Sometimes we are sensitive to these foods and cause our immune systems to be fighting all the time, therefore allergy symptoms are worse.
#2 Start taking a probiotic. You want a good quality probiotic. One with multiple strains of bacteria and at LEAST 20 billion bacteria count.
#3 Take a tablespoon of raw honey a day. Find a local farmer who sells honey. This will help build immunity against local pollen.
#4 Drink warm lemon water every morning. Cut lemon in half and squeeze into 8 oz warm water. Lemons and other citrus foods contain Quercetin which is a flavonoid that stops the production and release of histamine
#5 Diffuse essential oils! I use copaiba, peppermint, lavender, and lemon in my diffuser every day. Hint: You need a therapeutic grade for best results.
