As I was running this morning my mind was wondering, as usual, how this journey all began. Where I started in 2006, and what a ride it has been.. I always say that it is a journey, and it is. I weighed in at 232lbs. The biggest loser inspired me. I was approaching 40 and didn't want to stay overweight and become unhealthy. I knew as a nurse that because I loved sugar so much and was overweight with poor eating habits I would end up with type 2 diabetes. So I embarked on a lifestyle change. I had dieted enough in my lifetime to know that being a diet was not the answer. I made gradual changes and slowly, very slowly I lost weight. Weight loss has never been easy for me, I always have to change things up every couple of weeks. I did not add exercise for several months. I started working out at home with videos. I did not start running until 2009. I was a overweight child, overweight teenager, overweight young adult. Running was not my norm. I have kept the 77lbs off that I lost for the most part. I'll gain a few in the winter and then lose them in the summer since then. I ate sugar free, 100 calorie packs of cookies and chips. I counted calories and not chemicals. But remember I said this was a journey? So in 2012-2013 my oldest daughter embarked on her health journey. She researched and completely overhauled her way of eating. She put her symptoms of PCOS out of her life. Mom had all the same arguments other people do. "I can't afford to feed our family like that" "Its to hard to do that where we live" But I started researching myself. I found that Leah was on the right track. I went to school at IIN and became a health coach. I discovered that it wasn't so much more expensive to feed my family organic, non-gmo foods. So again my diet changed. And it continues to evolve and change. I want you to know if you are overweight and tired of being unhealthy I have been in your shoes. I understand exactly what it feels like to be uncomfortable in your own skin. I also know what it feels like to think you don't have time to focus on yourself because you are to busy giving to everyone else. However in reality to owe it to your family to be the best version of yourself. The happier and healthier you are the happier and healthier your family will become. I didn't start out working out. I didn't start out running. I simply started. The first step is the hardest. As a health coach I will be there to hold your hand. What are you waiting for? Let's start your journey!
